Top Greenwich Village Food Pick-Up/Delivering Food during Corona Pandemic

Mamoun's Falafel

Founded in 1971, Mamoun's has long been one of the best spots in all of New York
to get great "Cheap Eats." At just $4 for a falafel that for most is easily enough to fill you up at lunch, an in-between meal or even dinner. And as far as Great Late Night Cheap Eats, Mamoun's just can't be beat. I like get a Falafale-Baba (Babaganoush) Combo, at $5 it a inexpensive, fast, tasty meal that I can get anytime I like, as my apartment building is a short two blocks away.

PS ... Mamoun's claims to be the First Place Ever to serve Falafel Sandwiches in New York. We beleive this to be trued, and even if it's not, they are easily the most famous Falafel Joint in the entire city. No contest!

Joe's Pizza

Along with Mamoun's. Joe's Pizza on Carmine Street is another Top List # 1 in all of New York City. Joe's is well known as New York's #1 favorite "Best Slice" (Pizza) in all of New York. And in a town that's known as the undisputed Best Pizza in all of America, and is considered one of the Best Places on God's Good Earth to get a Slice of Pizza, being known as The Best Slice Joint in the great City of New York is no small feat.

Yes  Joe's is a great Cheap Eat and one of the best deals in the city, with a slice going for $3 and two for $6, it's easily in the parameters of what is considered a "Cheap Eat," any meal that cost Ten Dollars or less, Joe's does the trick and you're cheap cheezy 2nd rate product, you're getting what most people consider the best (not me) in the whole city.

Footnotes :

1)   Speaking of Cheezy, I've got to mention the .99 Cent Slice of Pizza. There are a couple within two blocks of Joe's. There's one north on 6th Avenue. A slice of Pizza for .99 cents. It uses cheap "Cheezy" Cheese. Hey it's just a Buck, and for many two slices of Pizza for $6 is a bit dear, so these .99 cent slice joints do serve their purpose, and that's to feed the less fortunate who can't afford the 6 Dollars it would cost to get 2 slices of pizza, they get two for just $2, and for them it makes a Huge Difference. Basta!

2 )   If you notice that when I wrote that, "Most people consider Joe's the Best Slice in the city (not Me), that is how I feel. It's not that I don't think they're not good, they are. It's just that I feel that the pizza at Joe's is very good, even one of the Best, just that it's not the # 1 single best, there are others. Joe's pizza is very good, a bit over-rated, and definitely not the single best slice in New York. There are many others just as equally excellent as Joe's. Basta.

Faicco's Pork Store

Great Italian Hero Sandwiches and Meatball Parms. A bit expensive, but definitely worth it if you have the cash, I don't. I could, but I make such great food for far less money, so I'm not going to throw $14 away on a single sandwich, when I can make four sandwiches for the same $14, and it would cost me about $60 to get four sandwiches at Faicco's. Now don't get me wrong I love the place. I love buying my  fresh Italian Sausage from them, along with Sopresseta and other Salumi products, tomatoes, pasta, olive oil, and cheese, but I make it myself at home, unlike many others for whom $14 for a sandwich is no problem, Faicco's is great. They make one of the best Italian Sandwiches (along with Parisi's) in all of New York City.

Meaning of Saint Valentines Day

"Be My Valentine"

Valentine's Day (or Saint Valentine's Day) is observed on February 14 each year. Today Valentine's Day is celebrated in many countries around the world, mostly in the West, although it remains a working day in all of them. The original "St. Valentine" was just a liturgical celebration of one or more early Christian saint named Valentinus. All the modern romantic connotations were added several centuries later by poets. The day first became associated with romantic love in the circle of Geoffrey Chaucer in the High Middle Ages, when the tradition of courtly love flourished. By the 15th century, it had evolved into an occasion in which lovers expressed their love for each other by presenting flowers, offering confectionery, and sending greeting cards (known as "valentines"). Modern Valentine's Day symbols include the heart-shaped outline, doves, and the figure of the winged Cupid. Since the 19th century, handwritten valentines have given way to mass-produced greeting cards.

"I just couldn't believe How Dam Tasty this Veggie Burger is. A week later I tried the Trader Joe's Masala Burger, it's not that good. The Quinoa Cowboy Burger has the Masala Veg Burger BEST by 1,00 times and I don't recommend the Masala Burger at all. I pan fry my Quinoa Cowboy Burger in a little Olive Oil on both sides, put it on a Toasted Buttered English Muffin with a little Mustard, Mayo, & Ketchup, Cheddar Cheese and 4 slices of Dill Pickle. It's so dam Tasty and I LOVE it so much, I can't stop eating them . PS I don't like the Trader Joe's English muffins, I'm sad tos ay, they're not that good. I use another brand. But I do LOVE most things I try at TRADER JOE'S. GREAT Company.

 BUFFALO WINGS ORIGINAL RECIPE

After Burgers and Pizza, these Buffalo Chicken Wings may very well be America’s 3rd most popular dish. And guess what? They’re not just American, they’re Italian American Teressa Bellissimo one night at her families Anchor Bar in Buffalo New York. Legend has it that Teressa’s son Dom was hanging out at the bar one night with his buddy’s. The guys were hungry so Mamma Bellissimo whipped up a little snack for the boys. Teressa fried up some wings, made a little hot sauce and coated the wings with them. And served them to the boys. They went nuts they loved them. They started serving them as a free at the bar for the bar customers. It was just a matter of weeks before all of Buffalo found out about these tasty wings. They became famous almost over night, whereby the Bellissimo’s stopped serving them for free at the bar and put them on the menu. The Bellissimo’s served Italian Food at their Anchor Bar, and the Italian Food was quite special. However the Bellisimo’s tasty Chicken Wings quickly out sold all the regular Italian Specialty Dishes and the Bellissimo’s Wings became the number 1 best seller on the menu. Not only that, but Teressa’s Italian-American created Chicken Wings became uber famous all over America and subsequently all over the World. That’s Italian, “Italian-American.”

 RECIPE :

Ingredients: 36 chicken wing pieces (one wing makes 2 pieces -
the "flat" and amp; the drum)
 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tablespoons white vinegar
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon Tabasco Sauce
6 tablespoons Frank’s Hot Sauce (or other)
6 tablespoons unsalted Butter or Margarine
Celery Sticks
1 bottle of Blue Cheese Dressing

Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.

Cut whole wings into two pieces at the joint.

In a bowl toss the wings with the oil, and salt. Place chicken wings into a large plastic shopping bag, and add the flour. Shake to coat evenly.

Remove wings from the bag, shaking off excess flour, and spread out evenly on oiled foil-lined baking pan(s). Do not crowd. Bake for about 20 minutes, turn the wings over, and cook another 20 minutes, or until the wings are cooked through and browned.

While the Wings are baking, mix all the ingredients for the sauce in a pan, and cook over low heat for 6 minutes, stirring occasionally.

After the Wings are cooked, remove from oven.

Place wings in a large bowl and pour sauce over wings to coat. Mix thoroughly.

Serve with Blue Cheese Dressing and fresh Celery Spears.

Enjoy your Wings ! Enjoy the Game, "It's SUPER BOWL SUNDAY" !
